Description

Hives are an acute or chronic allergic reaction in which red, raised lumps (wheals or welts) develop on the Skin - these lumps itch intensely and may last for hours or days. Each lump typically has a whitish, raised patch of Skin surrounded by a reddish halo. The lumps may be tiny or large, and may occur all over the body or be confined to one area. The individual welts usually subside within 40 minutes to 48 hours, although new ones may continue to appear and disappear for an extended period of time.
